    London: Whether addressing members of parliament, the press or meeting the Opposition Conservative Leader, Mr. David Cameron, His Holiness the Dalai Lama praised the response of the Chinese authorities to the recent tragic earthquake in Sichuan. He said the transparency shown in dealing with it was commendable and said that if similar response were shown to the Tibet issue that has been lingering for the last 50 years, then it would be beneficial even for China and the Chinese people.

    We, the people of Himalayan region of Nepal such as Sherpa, Tamang, Lhopa, Yolmo, Manang, Dolpo, Lemi, Mukumpa, Gyasumdo, Tsumpa etc and Tibetans share a common religion, culture, spiritual teacher, costumes, habits, language, ultimate wish for enlightenment and seeking refuge in the same three gems. Although geographically and politically we are citizens of different countries but we all belong to the same Bhotia race and no body can separate us.

    China arrests two young monks of Tehor Tsitsang Monastery in Kardze

    In the recent spates of sporadic protests reported from Kardze County, more reports of protest led by group of two or four persons continue to surface from the area. According to confirmed information received by the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD), two young monks in their early 20’s from Tsitsang Monastery were detained by the County Chinese security forces for their peaceful protest in Kardze County.

    No stop for March to Tibet despite warnings from local authorities

    Dharamshala, May 20 – More than 300 Tibetans marching back to Tibet are determined to continue their March to Tibet despite warnings from the authorities in Pithoragarh District, which is adjoined to the Tibet border. Contrary to May 19 media reports, the March has not been stopped by the local authorities.
