URGENT APPEAL TO INDIAN CITIZENS & OLYMPIC TORCH-BEARERS

Posted: April 8th, 2008, by admin

When China’s Torch Comes to India on April 17th - Speak out for Tibet.
We, the undersigned Tibetan individuals and organizations, appeal to all Indian citizens and, in particular, those people chosen to be Olympic torch-bearers, to speak out for the Tibetan people when China’s Torch comes to India on April 17th.

At this critical moment, when countless Tibetans are suffering under a violent military crackdown by the Chinese government, we need to show that global citizens support the Tibetan people’s right to be free and to live their lives as they see fit.
The courageous actions taken by Tibetans inside Tibet over the past few weeks demonstrate that Tibetans have suffered unimaginably under a half century of Chinese rule. They are now risking everything and crying out for freedom. By speaking out when the Chinese government brings the Olympic Torch to India you will send a strong message to Tibetans, to the Chinese government, and to the world, that Indians support the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people’s nonviolent struggle for freedom and justice.
There are so many ways for everyone to take action.
Torch-bearers can:- withdraw from the relay;- wear a Free Tibet shirt or hold the Tibetan flag as they run with the torch;- issue a statement in support of the Tibetan people before the Relay.
Indian citizens can:- join or organize a protest as the Torch passes through Delhi;- wear a Free Tibet shirt or hold a Tibetan flag as the Torch passes by;- plan a solidarity action in your town or city on April 17th.
As the Chinese government runs the Olympic torch around the world and attempts to whitewash its human rights violations and legitimize its illegal occupation of Tibet, tens of thousands of Tibetans and supporters will be speaking out to expose China’s lies. Please join this global chorus of voices calling for justice for Tibet!

If the tibetan government could stop the protests the dialogue could happen today. Maybe.

      Namastetashidlek,

The only reason why China hints at any dialog is so they wouldn’t lose face before the world for being the one’s who say “no” to it. I venture to say that Tibetans should do for themselves this time, and not have to wait for the “world” to get into it, since the world has largely done absolutely nothing to convince China that it should consider Tibetan grievances.

I am impressed and inspired by the courage of Tibetans for the last 50 years, especially in these last few weeks, knowing the risks and still taking a stand for their dignity. People of the world are opening their eyes now. So the protests should continue. As long as the PRC continues its unrelenting campaign to try to silence and exterminate Tibetans, Tibetans should resist at every step.

      Anything less would be inhuman.

namastetashidlek, don’t you see? if tibet stop the protests, then there WON’T be any dialogue between chinse gov n tibet. there will be just killing in tibet. how would you feel if some1 comes n kill your family n take away your land? how would you feel if you have some police watch everything step you take and listening to your phone call? are YOU going to stand for that? are you going to be quiet about it?

J Kunsang, did tibetans were all bitches, so chinse gov wanna to killing them all?Using your head to think. you just like, hum, an idiot without thought.Tibet free, hum, yes, after the earth is hited by Comet.
Hugh Kunsang, the truth I konw is €300′ poor employees protested in the France is so funny, they even don’t konw where is Tibet or Janpan. So, somebody shouted “free japan”, hoo, funny, that’s so funny.

      Hugh Kunsang Says:

      Compassion,

Who shouted “free Japan”? And you know French, right? So you know what they said? or did you just see what Xinhua and CCTV wanted you to see? Truth is that the pro-Tibetan protests are all over the world and all sorts of people are getting involved on their own time and free will.

While pro-Chinese protests are being funded by the PRC. Chinese people complain about people protesting China and burning the PRC flag, yet I also see Chinese people protesting against the West, against Tibetans, and burning flags too. (Like burning the French flag and boycotting Carrefour, which no one but Chinese people shop in anyway.)

Actually most Chinese don’t know where Tibet is. They think that Tibet is the TAR, which is only half of real Tibet. But China lies even about this. Tibet is being colonized and the government has lied for sixty years saying that Tibetans are really part of China, so it’s okay to take their country.

Chinese say that Tibetans are “splittist” which is wrong. Tibetans don’t want China to break up, since Tibet is not China.
