Since the March 10 uprising in Tibet this year, the Tibetans in every corner of the world has expressed solidarity in various ways to those Tibetans in Tibet who has risked their life by raising voice against the brutal Chinese regime in Tibet.
The Tibetans in Nepal held various peaceful protest programs to voice against the violent crackdown of Chinese forces on Tibetans in Tibet and to bring an end to the Tibet crisis by a peaceful dialogue with the representatives of H.H.the Dalai Lama.
A 24 hour relay hunger strike is one of the peaceful protest programs organized by the Nepal Tibetan Solidarity Committee. Today, on the 42nd day of the relay hunger strike, the TCV Alumni association of Kathmandu initiated to bring its members together to participate in the program and 74 of them has turned up at the venue today.
On asking what was the purpose of this initiative, Lhakpa Tashi, an extcvian said “I believe most of the Tibetans in Nepal are very much dedicated to the cause of our nation (Tibet) at individual level but to bring in more and strong participation in such a program (the relay hunger strike), I think it is more beneficial if the participation comes at an organizational level which will definitely result in more number of participants and also I hope that this initiation would give all the Tibetans a message that apart from its individual members, the TCV ex organization itself always supports any pro Tibet activities and also is actively taking part in the ongoing struggles for the cause of Tibet.”
There are 74 extcvians in addition to 8 others totaling to 82 participants today on the 42nd day of the 24 hour relay hunger strike which is a relatively high number of participants.
